Trial Run ran well

What a beautiful day here in Dearborn, MI! It is just over 24 hours after I left my house in Queens, with the dual purpose of heading out for a much anticipated vacation and checking out the hows and wheres of taking my bike on Amtrak. All-in-all, I can report good things for both.
I loaded up my bike & got to Penn Station after darting typical New York traffic (next time I'll take the "back" way, even if it is longer!) just in time to check my bike for the train. Little did I know that I don't just leave the bike with the crew, I take it to the train myself. So, rather than stand in line with everyone else getting on the train, I got an escort down to the track, watched the train roll into the station, handed my bike over to Phil and the rest of the very capable Amtrak staff and was one of the first on the train for my pick of the window seats! : )
The stop in Toledo was equally as smooth. I just had to wait in line for my "bag" to be released. There was enough room under the bus to store my bike til Dearborn. Once here, I loaded it back up and took the short 2-mile trek to my sister's house.
But the better part of the day was another bike ride with my nieces. This was another trial run, since they are both talking about joining me for part of the Summer ride. Wheeeeeee! Looking forward to a few days of R & R before heading back east.
