T minus 1

That's "Trip minus 1 day" or the first day after my trip.
The flight arrived early, my friend was there to pick me up, I collected my bike-in-a-box and was home by 7:30am. It was a slow day. I found a few movies, went grocery shopping (for the staples, like: ice cream, cheese & crackers & peanut butter) and put my bike back together again. That means I can hit the road tomorrow and pick up where I left off...last June...
Time to go back to work tomorrow. I understand there have been a few changes, so I will find out what I am in store for when I get there. But I have about a week to settle in before meetings start and then the kids show up after Labor Day.
In the meantime, on the way home from the grocery store, I found myself saying those familiar words, "Passing on the left". But I wasn't on my bike, I was walking up a very small hill. The gentleman was a bit surprised but responded well... "heh, yeah, when you're 20, this is nothin'. After 50 you start to notice it. At 65 it's a mountain!" We enjoyed the truth of the matter for a moment and we went our separate ways at the intersection.
Yep, I'm back home and heading to work again. But, of course, life continues. Whether it be on the road or at home, the opportunities to connect and take it all in are endless.
Today I thank God for:
- a safe flight home from Seattle
- Tiger baseball on network television in New York
- the right tools to build a bike (and the patience to do so)
- grocery stores within walking distance
- people worth meeting on a train, plane, bike path or in the neighborhood
- all of you
If you have been reading this for a few months now, you realize that the purpose of this blog/website is now over. I might add an entry or two or update the pictures before school starts, but after that, I'll be shutting it down. Thanks for being a part of my adventure. I pray that my musings have been encouraging, helpful or simply entertaining for you along the way.
