Happy Birthday!

Well, to be honest, I am writing this on Wednesday morning. My plans to get this out on my birthday were thwarted by sleep. But, isn't that what happens in life? The moments take over and plans get sorted out.
As noted in the last post, it is musical week at school and the costumes are not quite done. When I left school at 8:00, I was tempted to keep riding to see where I ended up. Well, a mile later, I ended up home. : } That's the way it's been going lately. I'm not getting many miles in, but I am still working my way toward June. So, keep reading for the answer to what many of you have been wondering.
It is official! I'll be starting my bike ride in Maspeth, NY, heading to Penn station pretty close to June 25. Amtrak will take me as far as Elkhart, IN where I will head north on my bike and meet up with my nephew, Noah and his lovely wife, Allie in Kalamazoo, MI. From there we will head to their house for some local biking before we all meet in Detroit for the following weekend for another monumental birthday celebration!
The "middle leg" of the journey is a little hazy right about now. But keep coming back to this website to see what I'm up to.
From Michigan, I'll trace back through my old stomping grounds of Indiana, across Illinois, then up again toward Chicago & Millwaukee. I hope to meet up with friends in Minneapolis/St. Paul before taking Amtrak again straight to Washington State.
The last leg of the trip is also secured sometime in the middle of August. I'll visit with my friends Kristi & Bob and their sweet children before hooking up with Jonathan, Beatrice and Evelyn (transplanted Michigander, Californian & New Yorker) somewhere in the middle of the state, ready to head toward Seattle for a flight back home.
