Day 11 - aaaahhhh, home!

Isn't it great, when you can call a place home, even if it is not where you live!?

It was a light day on the road, only 30.5 miles, partly because my legs felt like lead, partly because of the psychological block that I knew I had a ride "the rest of the way". My friend Kim was an incredible sport to drive "to the next exit" several different times as we planned the day's route. The original plan was the 63 miles to Gas City, the normal half-way point between Fort Wayne & Indianapolis. Then I figured I would rather make the 50 mile mark, meeting at the McDonald's at exit #278 off of I69. In the end, I made it to the Sunoco station at the corner of Logan & Clark, 30.5 miles from the north end of the city, but only 10 miles from the south end. (sorry, Kim!) THANKS, KIM!

After breakfast with the Muellers, thanking my new friends and saying good-bye, I hit the road a little later than planned. Can I just say, "Signage!" Once again, Google maps did not coincide with what I saw on the road. So, from the get-go, I was flying by the seat of my pants again (both literally and figuratively!) But, the reality is that I was able to ride through town on mostly bike paths, some through the parks system. Once through town, though, I was on route 3.

Route 3 took me through Zanesville, IN. When you visit there, you want to find the Community church on the corner and turn east and look for the PIzza Place on County Road. Alice will set you up. Her biscuits and gravy are pretty worth the trip. What I didn't know is that her humble establishment is actually on the Northern Tier cross-country bike route. She has hosted bikers from all over the world, including someone coming through from Toledo, Defiance & Fort Wayne.

Today, I thank God for:

-friends that will come get you where ever you are

-cloud cover with no rain

-strangers who look out for you: Len crossed the highway to see if I was OK, cuz I was standing there for a while, looking at my phone. I shared it was only a rest break and I was trying to get the audio going for the Tiger game. After offering water, and finding out that I was only going to Markle (a few miles down the road), he was satisfied that I was, in fact, OK. So we said goodbye and he offered his place as a stopping point whenever I was by that way again!

Praying that your "thank God today" list is obvious today. : ) G'nite!
