Day 23 - "yes, it's hot!"

Thank you to all who have shared your concerns about me traveling in this heat wave in the mid-west! Lucky for me, I've holed up for a few days in air-conditioning. Even the two days & 120 miles I was going to take to bike to Jacksonville (IL, not FL) has been traded in for a train ride to Springfield and a "short" ride of 40 miles on Friday. I'll forgo the 104 degree heat for a mere 95 on that day. Don't worry, I've got 2 reserve bottles of water and always stop to fill up the primary one whenever I can. My rule of thumb on the ride is, "stop when you need to." And I do.
So, I get to visit for a few more days here. I experienced Menchies Frozen Yogurt today - yum! Enjoyed dinner with a friend whom I haven't seen in 10 years - Thank you, Ruth for taking the time! Get to watch Tiger baseball if the Brewers are not playing at the same time. : ) So, sad about JD! : ( I'm basically just playing "catch up" with everyone in the time I have.
Looking toward Jacksonville, Chicago & MIlwaukee, so check back here for more details about my next leg.
In the meantime, check out the "Photos" page. It turns out that my phone can talk to my email account much faster when I am in "civilization". I'm able to add a few more recent pictures to help visualize the stories I've been sharing.
Enjoy the day as you find it. Hope you are staying cool!
